Let the artwork shape set the height.

See how different transfer sizes look before you order. Choose a placement, compare examples, then measure your actual garment.
Artwork size & placement—not a clothing fit chart. These are starting points, not universal rules. Garment cut, artwork shape and printable area change the result.
Wearer’s left = viewer’s right.
Center the design; check the neckline.
Fit the smallest garment in the group.
Seams and sleeve shape limit space.
No universal front print box.
Original schematic illustrations. Example scale only—not guaranteed fit or Detroit production limits. Measurements refer to artwork unless stated otherwise.
Same width. Different impact.
All three examples are 11″ wide. Their heights differ. Keep proportions locked—never stretch a design into a square.
Small logo or statement?
Same garment illustration. Wearer’s left is on your right when viewing the shirt from the front.
Measure print, not film.
Arrows meet the visible artwork. Crop unnecessary transparent margins, then verify the design dimensions in your order tool.
Check the smallest shirt.
Compare the actual smallest and largest blanks. Separate youth and adult artwork sizes may produce a more consistent result.

Your size reference.
| Placement | Inches | Centimeters | Check first |
|---|---|---|---|
| Adult full front / back | 11″ wide | 27.9 cm | Height stays proportional; check printable area. |
| Adult left chest | 3.5–4.5″ wide | 8.9–11.4 cm | Narrow or tall logos may need less width. |
| Actual pocket | Up to roughly 3.5″ | 8.9 cm | Measure the pocket and avoid seams. |
| Youth small front | 8.5″ wide | 21.6 cm | Fit the smallest blank. |
| Youth medium / large front | 10.5″ wide | 26.7 cm | Size labels vary by brand. |
| Toddler front | 5.5″ wide | 14 cm | Verify both width and length. |
| Short sleeve | Approximately 3.3–3.5″ | 8.5–8.9 cm | Check sleeve shape and seams. |
| Long sleeve | 2″ × 11.25″ | 5.1 × 28.6 cm | Vertical artwork example—not every sleeve. |
| Hoodie front | Test the adult-width example | Measure your garment | Pocket and zipper control height. |
1 inch = 2.54 cm. Conversions shown rounded. Width examples are not maximum sheet sizes or guaranteed garment fit.
Measure once. Check twice.
Lay it flat
Without stretching. Smooth the actual garment.
Find the center
Use collar and body alignment—not the tag alone.
Make a paper mockup
Actual size. Check seams, pockets and edges.
Check both extremes
Test smallest and largest blanks. Keep proportions.
Place with intention.
Front & left chest
Center on the garment body. A wide wordmark often sits higher than a tall graphic. Use collar edges and underarm references, then visually adjust the wearer-left logo.
Back & sleeves
Center the back print and check hood coverage. On sleeves, check which direction the artwork faces when worn—not just the center of the carrier sheet.
There is no universal “3 inches below the collar” rule. Mock up the actual garment and design together.
Quick answers.
Same print on every shirt?
Test the smallest and largest blanks. Separate youth and adult print sizes can give a more consistent result.
Does 11″ wide mean 11″ tall?
No. Preserve the original proportions. Confirm width and height separately before ordering.
Is this a garment size chart?
No. For clothing fit and garment measurements, use the manufacturer’s chart for the exact product style.
How do I convert inches to centimeters?
Multiply inches by 2.54. The reference values on this page are rounded.
